Mich. PSC refuses to halt AmeriChecks plan. (Michigan Public Service Commission)

Michigan cable operators won't get any immediate relief from an Ameritech Corp. marketing plan that they claimed undermines competition in the video market. Industry officials said the Michigan Public Service Commission's decision not to halt the telco's AmeriChecks strategy while it investigates the plan ensures that the regional Bell operating company can offer the program until the agency issues a decision later this year.

"Of course, speed is of the essence for a marketing plan," said Chris Horak, spokesman for the Michigan Cable Telecommunications Association.
