Lenny and Squiggy were there, but, alas, Carmine was absent. Time Warner Cable's Milwaukee division threw a party Oct. 9 to show off its new, $250 million upgrade to 750 megahertz and its name change for southeast Wisconsin. By industry standards, the rebuild was nothing groundbreaking - 80 channels, with a NextLevel CFT-2200 advanced-analog box. No digital, no cable modems, no Road Runner. Just another upgrade - outside of Wisconsin, not even newsworthy.
But did Gale Sayers, Ann Miller and Paul Hornung show up at your upgrade?
More than 2,700 people crammed into the city's Bradley Arena, some coming from as far as 50 miles away, to get a glimpse of what their cable system had up its sleeve.
