Cable Makes Land Rush to Court Toddlers

COMEDY CENTRAL'S SOUTH PARK GOT ALL THE HYPE LAST YEAR, but cable's other hot show also created its own animated stars, merchandising craze and buzz among parents, kids and the national press: Blue's Clues on Nickelodeon.

At the Walsh household in Westfield, N.J., 4-year-old Tommy is an avid fan of Blue's Clues, and he has a special bond with the show. For his birthday last year. he got a green striped rugby shirt that resembles the one that Blue's host, Steve Burns, wears. While kids aren't usually thrilled to get clothes instead of a toy for a present, Tommy was ecstatic.
