AT&T, Comcast Huddle After Allen Buys Adelphia There are now only three major MSOs left in the broadband-delivery industry, the successor to last century's "cable television" business. Paul Allen's Charter Communications has outbid rival Brian Roberts' Comcast Communications for Adelphia Broadband, paying a record $25 billion in stock, cash and assumed debt, leaving AT&T Corp.
