Employees at AT&T Broadband & Internet Services were abuzz last Thursday. Notices went out to report to the lobby of the new company headquarters building in Denver at 9:45 Friday morning for an important announcement by CEO Leo J. Hindery Jr. Coming the day after an AT&T Corp. board meeting, the big question was: Is Hindery making an important announcement about his future at the company? It turned out that AT&T commissioned a portrait of former Tele-Communications Inc.
chairmen Bob Magness and John Malone, and the unveiling was to be a surprise to Liberty Media Group chairman Malone. The portrait will be a welcome addition to the famously colorless building.
