Report Card Time for Cable.(J.D. Power and Associates issues report on customer satisfaction)(Statistical Data Included)

The new school year isn't even in full swing yet, but cable already got a report card in the form of J.D. Power and Associates' "1999 Cable/Satellite TV Customer Satisfaction Study." And let's just say that compared with its DBS competitors, cable looks like it needs several remedial courses, although some MSOs have shown improvement from a year ago, when the survey was last issued.
In the negative-check-mark column, per usual, there were no surprises. Again, direct-broadcast satellite services significantly outshone cable. And in an upset from previous years, Dish Network squeaked by DirecTV, becoming the highest-ranked service in terms of customer satisfaction.
