News Corp.(announces a strategic alliance with Healtheon/ WebMD)

NEW YORK -- News Corp. has announced a $1 billion global strategic alliance with Healtheon/ WebMD.
As part of the deal, News Corp. will provide WebMD with $700 million worth of branding services ($400 million in commercial time in the United States) over 10 years. News Corp. will spend $100 million for 10.8 percent of Healtheon/WebMD, invest $100 million in an international joint venture and pay $62.5 million to carry daily WebMD broadcasts.
Healtheon/WebMD gets 50 percent of international operations of News Corp.'s 14 million-subscriber The Health Network, plus full ownership of thehealthwork.com.
