Sports spuds may have tingled as they anticipated Sunday's Super Bowl, but at The Weather Channel last week, it was time to go to the mattresses. The Atlanta region was already under stress from an unprecedented ice storm, and a second front moved in last Thursday as the network prepped for its Nor' easter-recovery stories, in addition to live weather remotes from the game in its backyard.

Because of the possibility that inclement weather would close roads or worse, the network tried to get hotel rooms near its headquarters--a futile effort in a town booked solid with football fans.
