LAS VEGAS -- Cablevision Systems Corp. CEO James Dolan made an unscheduled appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show here to help unveil the new Sony Corp. of America digital set-tops the MSO recently deployed in beta tests on Long Island, N.Y. Cablevision plans to start the box's consumer rollout by June, Dolan said.
Plans are to switch out analog set-tops with the new digital boxes at a rate of 100,000 per month by the end of the year, he added. Dolan said Cablevision plans to convert all of its New York-area customers to digital boxes in the next four years; it will then convert all analog programming to digital.
