What with irate Internet-service providers, a defensive network operator and mounting legal action, things are definitely not sunny in California. The prickly relationship between SBC Communications Inc. -- the incumbent regional Bell operating company -- and independent ISPs over access to digital subscriber line networks is threatening to escalate into a legal and regulatory war.
With most major MSOs now in trials to create a multiple-access landscape for cable-modem service, will such battles emerge on that front well? Not necessarily.
