AT&T's big Friday: Deadlines Loom for @Home, Broadband.(AT and T Corp. waits for court decision)

The Friday after Thanksgiving is "Black Friday" for retailers. But this Friday, Nov. 30, is shaping up as "Big Friday" for AT&T Corp. That's when key decisions must be made regarding the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of its majority-controlled Excite@Home Corp. cable-modem unit -- and the deadline for formal proposals from potential suitors for its AT&T Broadband division.

U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Thomas Carlson is expected to rule on Friday whether Excite@Home can accept AT&T'S $307 million bid for the bulk of its network assets, or if the service should be shut down, as a motion filed by company's creditors' committee has demanded. In the meantime, AT&T Corp.'s board of directors could be sifting through bids for the Broadband unit itself....
