NEWPORT BEACH, CALIF. -- Broadband chip maker Conextant Systems Inc. said it received a favorable ruling from the Internal Revenue Service regarding the tax-free spin-off of its wireless business, prior to its merger with Alpha Industries Inc. Conextant said the combined wireless company, to be called Skyworks Solutions Inc., will be traded on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol "SWKS" upon completion of the merger, expected to close by the end of the month.
