Amazon.com founder and CEO Jeff Bezos was once named Time's Person of the Year for launching the Web-based bookseller. But don't expect Bezos to garner similar accolades from Time Warner Cable anytime soon. Amazon.com is now running with the crowd that wants the Federal Communications Commission to force cable operators to carry competing Internet-service providers.
"This is the best way for the [FCC] to preserve the Internet's distinctive characteristic of enabling consumers to 'pull' information, products, and services from millions of sources, rather than having a handful of entities 'push' out to them, as through the mass media," Amazon told the FCC recently.
