ESPN, ABC set 'upfront-style' sales pitch. (Marketing & Advertising).

ESPN and ABC Sports will cohost an "upfront-style" sales presentation to the advertising community on Oct. 29. ESPN has not made such sales pitches in prior upfront seasons, said ESPN/ABC Sports president of customer marketing and sales Ed Erhardt last Wednesday. Erhardt is expecting more than 600 advertiser and adagency buyers at the New York event.
Rather than then taking the pitch on the road, he said the networks will televise it for others gathered in Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles and ESPN headquarters in Bristol Conn. "Historically, ESPN hasn't done an upfront presentation the way the broadcast TV and cable networks do [for their new primetime programming], because we're sports," he said.
