LOUISVILLE, COLO. -- Cable Television Laboratories Inc. last week certified home-networking gear from Linksys Group Inc. and NetGear Inc. as part of its first CableHome 1.0 certification wave. It also approved Internet protocol telephony gear from Arris Group Inc., Toshiba Corp., Cisco Systems Inc. and Terayon Communication Systems Inc. under its PacketCable program.
The two approval waves are important milestones for CableLabs and the cable industry, because they pave the way for full-fledged home-networking and voice-over-IP deployments.
