THE GROWING APPEAL OF CABLE PROGRAMMING across all genres propelled ad-supported networks to record viewership levels last season. And the momentum continues in the new 2003-04 TV season, which officially began on Sept. 22. Last season, cable's audience growth significantly outpaced the seven national broadcast networks in all dayparts, with the largest percentage gains coming from weekday and weekend mornings.

The primetime story has been equally strong. Cable recorded healthy increases in primetime every day of the week, while the broadcast networks collectively lost viewers five nights out of seven.
