Multichannel News, February, 2004
CHICAGO -- The Consumer Services Commission here wants TO impose a $750-per-day fine on RCN Corp. for its failure to pay $231,000 in access fee commitments. RCN has asked for a franchise modification for Area 2. RCN stopped its buildout and because it only has 1,500 customers, its access commitment amounts to $150 per sub, per year.
Competitor Comcast Corp's system is fully built out and it pays less than $4 per sub. Other committees and city aldermen would have to approve the fine.
