FCC seeks 'best practices' on diversity.

WASHINGTON -- FCC chairman Michael Powell told the agency's industry advisory committee on diversity that he was encouraged by the idea of a "seal of approval" for diversity practices that it could give to cable and other communications companies. The Federal Communications Commission's Advisory Committee on Diversity for Communications in the Digital Age--a group Powell formed last summer to advise on increasing opportunities for women and minorities in communications--is developing a best-practices list highlighting companies' successful efforts to foster diversity in employment.
