Multichannel News, September, 2004

BURBANK, CALIF. -- Continuing its affinity for the format, Sci Fi Channel has begun work on a pair of miniseries, reworking classics The Andromeda Strain and The Thing. The network is teaming up with three-time Academy Award-nominee Ridley Scott and Emmy Award-winner Tony Scott (Home Box Office's The Gathering Storm) to revisit Michael Crichton's debut novel, The Andromeda Strain.

Development has just begun on the project, which is expected to air as a four-hour miniseries sometime next year. Similarly, Sci Fi plans to devote four hours in 2005 to a remake of The Thing.
