General Bandwidth aids Videotron VoIP.(Videotron Communications Inc.)(Brief Article)

Montreal -- General Bandwidth Inc. announced that Videotron is using its G6 Universal Media Gateway to rollout voice-overInternet protocol service in its Quebec system. Videotron said it started deployments in Montreal's South Shore section in January, and has added Quebec City. It now counts 62,500 phone customers.

General Bandwidth said the fully redundant architecture supports from 240 to 16,128 DSOs in a single chassis. The company also announced that SureWest Communications will use the G6 along with Occam Networks Inc.'s BLC 6000 system to deliver triple play services to multiple tenant units in its Sacramento, Calif., service area. GB said its G6 supports VoIP from both legacy class 5 switches and next generation solutions.
