Adelphia Communications Corp. is rolling network-security software from Sandvine Inc. as a means to cut down the amount of malicious traffic to its high-speed data subscribers. Sandvine's network-integrity tool set helps cable operators prevent malicious traffic, worms, spam zombies and denial-of-service attacks from affecting their networks and high-speed Internet subscribers.

"We have seen a significant decrease in spam and other malicious attacks, as well as a reduction in customer-support calls," said Adelphia chief technology officer Marwan Fawaz.
