On Easter Sunday, seekers of television fare in a spiritual vein will be able to make a choice: The Ten Commandments on ABC or The Passion of the Christ on Showtime. The not-risk-averse pay TV programmer--which also aired Fahrenheit 9/11 and the CBS castoff The Reagans--picked up the controversial Mel Gibson production, after HBO and Starz took a pass.
A Showtime executive said the Easter premiere date was not a bid to drum up controversy--just the most logical date to bow the controversial feature.
