By Staff Vonage is Barred From Signing New Customers Staff Alexandria, Va. -- A federal judge has ruled that Vonage Holdings may continue to service its existing 2.2 million customers but that the Internet phone provider will not be allowed to sign up new ones. The April 6 order, from Judge Claude Hilton of the U.S.

District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, allows Vonage to continue to use certain Verizon Communications patents to provide service to existing customers but will prevent the company from adding new customers pending the outcome of the company's planned appeal of the decision.
