Nanotechnology-focused R&D centers continue to pop up and gain support around the globe. Among the ground-breaking developments (pun intended) covered during the past year in Nanoparticle News were the launchings of the Center for Chemical-Electrical-Mechanical Manufacturing Systems at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Multiscale Materials and Devices Research Center at the University of Oregon, and the Quantum Information Processing Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration at London's Science Museum. Also, construction was initiated on an $85 million Molecular Foundry at Lawrence Berkeley Lab, the 96,000 sq.-ft. Center for Integrative Nanotechnology involving Sandia and Los Alamos National Labs, and the Nanophotonics Laboratory at Boston University....
