Minneapolis-based convenience-store chain Tom Thumb Food Markets plans to install Internet terminals in its Twin Cities stores that will allow customers to make purchases on it. Tom Thumb operates 113 units in Minnesota and Wisconsin and is branded with Conoco, Phillips, CITGO and Amoco. According to company officials, the terminals will be equipped with a computer, monitor, keyboard, dollar-bill acceptor and card swipe, allowing e-commerce transactions with either cash or credit.

"This is a great opportunity to provide our customers with the additional convenience of high-speed Internet access for over 15 hours per day in Tom Thumb's metro-area locations," said Derrell Deming, Tom Thumb's director of store operations.
