HHS: Safe harbors, fraud alerts.(Federal Register)

Older Americans Report, December, 2005

HHS: Safe harbors, fraud alerts. Each year, the Office of the Inspector General at the Department of Health and Human Services solicits recommendations for new safe harbors from the anti-kickback law, which prohibits attempts to induce or reward business reimbursable by federal health care programs.

Likewise, the Inspector General annually seeks proposals for new fraud alerts, which provide guidance to providers so they can avoid charges of fraud or abuse. Comments are due Feb. 7. Contact: Joel Schaer, (202) 619-0089. Federal Register, Dec. 9, p. 73186.
