Contractor Tackles Complex Anchorage Road Project

For years, a debate on whether to extend an arterial road across a portion of Anchorage's almost 4,000-acre Far North Bicentennial Park kept the project on hold.

Voter approval of bonds to construct the project ended the debate, and in the fall of 2005 work began on an approximately 2.5-mile, $40-million project that upgrades and connects the north-south Abbott Loop to new road construction through the park. The work also includes installation of 13,000 linear feet of new 42-inch welded, steel water transmission line.
