Procter & Gamble is test-marketing a single-serve, snack-sized thermoformed package for its Pringles[R] brand potato crisps. Shaped on the bottom like one of the curvy chips, the polypropylene barrier cup, pigmented bright red for Original flavor and green for Sour Cream & Onion, holds about a dozen Pringles potato crisps, convenient for consumers on-the-go or school/office lunches. Specially designed to keep the crisps fresh and guard against breakage, the cup, dubbed Snack Stack, is both protective and eye-catching. PD is told the PP coex thermform is also significant for its potential economies, significant moisture and oxygen barriers and relative uniqueness in the marketplace for dry products.
