Bathroom cleaner widens its reach.(design trends)

Packaging Digest, May, 2005

A new all-purpose bathroom cleaner, X-14 Orange from WD-40 Co., San Diego, CA, uses a fresh-picked packaging design that couples a shaped aerosol can with a wide-area spray nozzle for a unique on-shelf appearance and enhanced dispensing functionality. Formulated to "help consumers clean their bathrooms better and faster," says Tim Lesmeister, vp of marketing for WD-40, the citrus-scented cleaner is packaged in a 22-oz no-rust aluminum aerosol can with a rounded neck from CCL Container (www.seaqperf.com), is said to provide four-times the surface coverage of competitive dispensers. Notes Lesmeister, "The spray dispenser not only fulfilled the physical 'come out wide' promise, but it also provided a visual cue in that regard."
