NeoPhotonics acquires LightConnect and OpTun to extend product line for next-generation reconfigurable optical networks.(MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS)

NeoPhotonics, a global supplier of fiber-optic component and module solutions for core, FTTx, and other broadband networks, announced the acquisition of LightConnect Inc., of Newark, California, and OpTun Inc., of Santa Clara, California LightConnect is a manufacturer of MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) based components and modules for the fiber-optic communications industry, with products including Variable Optical Attenuators (VOAs), Blockers, Dynamic Gain Equalizers (DGEs), and Dynamic Channel Equalizers (DCEs). OpTun is a developer of Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC)-based Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexers (ROADMs). Terms of the acquisitions, based on a combination of cash and stock, were not announced.
