Here's clarification of some common misconceptions about the role that uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems play beyond the plant main data processing center

Day-to-day performance of a manufacturing plant is highly dependent on the proper functioning of electronic devices and systems. This electronic equipment spans the gamut from simple, single-function devices, such as photocontrols in manufacturing areas, to the mainframe computer in the plant data processing center. In between these two extremes lie LAN (local area network)-interconnected process control system computers, programmable controllers, and personal computers.
