While rival Parker Brothers was advertising sophisticated games like Clue, Rio and Finance, Milton Bradley was looking to the tikes. Candy Land, Game of the States and Go to the Head of the Class were being touted as perennial favorites.

Mound, Minnesota's Tonka Toys was highlighting its new Suburban Pumper, a fire truck with a 40-inch hose that, the ad claimed, "shoots water continuously!" On the licensing front, Whitman Publishing was selling a Dinah Shore cut-out doll book, Roy Rogers Frontiers Inc. was hyping its license of America's favorite cowboy and Brooklyn, N.Y.'s Pride Products was hawking its Mouseketeer marionette.
