Shalom Sesame is a series that was created in the late '80s to teach American Jewish children about Israel by enlisting the help of Bert and Ernie and other characters along with stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker. The series sold nearly half a million units on VHS and has just been released on DVD, says Haim Scheininger, president of SISU. The series has been repackaged to include printable teaching guides along with some footage of Big Bird that wasn't on the VHS version. The II Shalom Sesame programs are available on DVD in a set of five discs ($99.95) or for $19.95 per disc. Vol. 5 includes an episode about Passover.--C.S.
