FSA office consolidation issue is brewing.

USDA has finally come clean--at least partially--on the issue of closing/consolidating Farm Service Agency (FSA) county offices. USDA said last week in a press release it has asked state FSA chiefs to submit consolidation proposals by Nov. 15 to FSA Washington.

That press release came nearly two weeks after an Associated Press report revealed USDA "plans" to close/consolidate 665 county offices nationwide.

But absent from that press release: FSA Washington plans to make decisions on which offices to consolidate by mid-December, with implementation planned by the end of October 2006.
