'Tough' week for wheat & corn * Live cattle futures paused--Wheat and corn futures continued their slide this week, and USDA's week-ending Supply & Demand update won't help turn the tide (see News page 4). Soybeans got a boost from big sales to China and other destinations, but carryover surged in the S&D update, which will keep a lid on bean futures next week.
These markets are definitely looking for a shot in the arm from demand and they're just not getting it. Wheat also had to digest higher production forecast in Canada. For the meats, cattle futures paused as markets digested the latest on the Japanese market but were disappointed by cash-market activity. Now the trade wants to see beef actually moving to Japan.
