La Fuerza Aérea Mexicana calificó como "viable desde el punto de vista polÃtico, económico y técnico" la construcción del nuevo aeropuerto de la Ciudad de México en Tizayuca, Hidalgo, de acuerdo con un documento confidencial elaborado el 5 de agosto de 1995, durante el gobierno de Ernesto Zedillo.
La Fuerza Aérea Mexicana analiza los aspectos de carácter técnico del proyecto Tizayuca, las condiciones de crisis que ya enfrentaba el aeropuerto de la Ciudad de México, asà como la obligada permanencia e independencia de la Base Aérea Militar Número 1 en Santa LucÃa, Estado de México, por razones de seguridad nacional.
