ProtoKey rapid prototyping service provides products with proprietary memory keys and other custom-shaped tokens containing non-volatile memory. The products are a way to store electronic data and control access. The ProtoKey service can be used to test the functionality of a new chip, make a design change, or explore new technology. The service populates a TSSOP, SOIC, or DIP integrated circuit (IC) onto the exposed circuit board of the specially molded ProtoKey Next, jumpers are populated to connect the IC's leads to the appropriate redundant contacts on the key's shank. Finally, the key head is tilled with epoxy to protect the underlying components. Although not as rugged as fully over-molded keys, ProtoKeys can be used for proof-of-concept and development work....
