Upgraded Performance: EMC Corp.

EMC Corp. has rolled out a new generation of its Symmetrix Integrated Cached Disk array storage and retrieval products. The new systems provide a twofold increase in open systems' storage performance and up to a 40% increase in mainframe storage performance compared with previous Symmetrix systems. In addition, high-capacity Symmetrix systems with a new 23-gigabyte drive offer three times the capacity of previous high-capacity, high-performance Symmetrix systems. The product line includes six new systems, three each for open systems and mainframe environments, with a maximum storage capacity of three terabytes in a single system. The new products include the Symmetrix models 3330, 3430 and 3700 for open systems plus the 5330, 5430 and 5700 for mainframe environments....
