Sun, Visa Team Up On Microprocessor.

VISA INTERNATIONAL, SAN Francisco, plans to join Sun Microsystems and other key players in the development and promotion of a Java-based smart card microprocessor core, using the Java Card application program interface (API).

The move stands to help speed the creation of a silicon microprocessor architecture for chip cards and, in mm, expedite smart card deployment by issuers like banks, Visa and Sun reported.
