China awards contracts to Motorola, Nokia.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.--The Chinese government awarded three contracts, two to Motorola Inc. and one to Nokia Corp., to expand the country's GSM wireless telecommunications networks.

Motorola's contracts call for to expand the GSM 900/1800 dual-band network in Beijing and the GSM 900 network in Shanxi Province. The combined value of the two contracts is approximately $30.2 million, according to Motorola.

In addition to the GSM expansion projects, Motorola will install a WAP trial for Beijing Mobile Communication Corp., providing its WAP gateway-MIX and four styles of WAP-enabled handsets.
