Motorola, Palm collaborate on smart phone.

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--Motorola Inc. and Palm Inc. are collaborating to create a new smart phone that combines Palm handheld computer functionality with a mobile phone. The two have agreed to develop and co-brand an entire line of such smart phones, which will include the Palm OS platform--including HotSync and Web Clipping technologies--on Motorola-designed phones.

The phones will feature general packet radio service compatibility.
