Comverse reports increased income.

WOODBURY, N.Y.--Comverse Technology Inc. announced its net income increased 48 percent for the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2000 and increased 51 percent for the year compared with 1999 figures. The company posted its fourth-quarter net income at $76.9 million, compared with $51.9 million for the fourth quarter of 1999.

It also posted record sales of $346.6 million for the fourth quarter, an increase of 37 percent from the previous year. For the fiscal year 2000, net income was $277 million and sales were $1.2 billion. "Our fourth quarter results reflect our leadership position in our major markets.
