Verizon launches Mobile Office.

BEDMINSTER, N.J.--Verizon Wireless launched Mobile Office, a service allowing customers to use their data-capable wireless handsets to dial into their company network or Internet service provider. While the service is included with all of the carrier's digital service plans, Verizon Wireless offers a Mobile Office kit for $70.

Included in the kit is a cable to connect a wireless handset to a laptop computer; software; an adapter to connect to a personal digital assistant; Quick 2 Net, a feature allowing users to connect to the Internet quickly without the need for a separate ISP account; Fourrelle's Venture compression software, allowing speeds up to 28.8 kilobits per second; and Smith Micro's QuickLink Mobile software, which checks the size of e-mail...
