Siemens cuts temporary workers.

LEIPZIG, Germany--Phone maker Siemens AG has laid off 2,000 temporary workers in Leipzig, Bottrop and Kamp-Lintfort, Germany. The company, which expects its handset sales to surge by 15 percent around the world, cut those jobs by not extending work contracts in its mobile-phone units.
