Firehunter monitors network service quality.

NEW YORK--To help wireless carriers assess the quality of service as it is delivered to their customers via the Internet, Agilent Technologies Inc., Fort Collins, Cob., introduced at Supercomm its Firehunter/mobile Web monitoring product. It is available now to monitor Wireless Application Protocol, short message service access and delivery in GSM networks and data transmissions over GPRS networks.

Agilent also is researching ways to monitor cdma2000 packet-switched data. "The value chain has become increasingly complex, and there is a need to monitor everything from content providers to long-haul networks ... It's one thing to wait for content to be delivered on a PC (personal computer), but quite another to wait for it in a mobile environment,"...
