Nokia places W-CDMA 3GPP call.

RCR Wireless News, August, 2001

Nokia Corp. said it has placed its first wideband-CDMA voice call on the 3rd Generation Partnership Program standard. "The 3G voice call demonstrates the compliancy of the commercial Nokia 3G network elements and the first version of a Nokia dual-mode GSM/W-CDMA terminal with the December 2000 version of the 3GPP release 99," said Nokia in a press statement.

"It also validates the network elements necessary for volume deliveries and enables further development of functionality."
