More than half a year after the deal was announced, AT&T Wireless Group has little to show-beyond the obvious monetary gain-for its $9.8 billion partnership with what is arguably the world's most successful wireless carrier, NTT DoCoMo. The entire world has hailed Japan's DoCoMo as the consummate example of prosperity, especially in the field of wireless data and the mobile Internet.

In just a short time, the company has managed to garner almost 27 million wireless data subscribers under its i-mode service, a feat that leaves the rest of the global wireless industry in the dust.
