NMS acquires Lucent voice business.

RCR Wireless News, October, 2001

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--NMS Communications announced it has acquired Lucent Technologies' voice enhancement and echo cancellation business. According to the agreement, expected to close by year-end, NMS will pay $60 million in cash for all assets of the business. After close of the agreement, NMS will enter a multi-year agreement to serve as the exclusive supplier of echo cancellation systems and sound quality equipment for Lucent, allowing Lucent to continue providing the systems to its service provider customers.

"As part of NMS, this business expects to be able to broaden its customer base and invest more in maintaining its leading voice quality systems," said Steve Akers, chief technical officer for Lucent's internetworking solutions group.
