Sun Microsystems Inc. last week released its answer to Microsoft Corp.'s .NET strategy, called Open Net Environment, and touted its open, standards-based approach to the ONE platform as the trump card in its deck. "It's about being productive, making faster decisions, saving money and bringing products to market," said Sun's President and Chief Operating Officer Edward J.
Zander of the new Sun ONE announcement. "I think basically it's the second generation of the Internet." Sun described its ONE software platform as a "vision, architecture, platform and expertise for developing and deploying services on demand."
