Tauzin, Upton push to kill spectrum cap.

WASHINGTON--Two top House telecommunications lawmakers have joined the wireless industry in urging the Federal Communications Commission to eliminate the cap that limits the amount of spectrum a carrier can control in urban areas to 45 megahertz and 55 megahertz in rural areas.

"This cap is antiquated and undermines the effective delivery of services by the U.S. wireless industry," said Reps. Billy Tauzin (R-La.), chairman of the House Commerce Committee and Fred Upton (RMich.), chairman of the House telecommunications subcommittee, in a letter to FCC Chairman Michael K. Powell sent on Thursday.
